The BlackBerry Radar team are hiring!
The BlackBerry IoT Business Unit combines BlackBerrys core IoT assets across the company. One of groups within the IoT Business Unit is BlackBerry Radar which is an innovative service for managing and optimizing fleet operations for businesses in the transportation sector. Solving our customers most common transportation and logistics challenges BlackBerryRadar can be used for tracking trailers intermodal containers & chassis equipment railcars and more.
All BlackBerry Radar tracking data is secured with BlackBerry encryption and authentication services; the devices are powered by BlackBerryQNX our OS for embedded systems. BlackBerry Radar devices are rugged and low maintenance equipped with batteries that can last as much as five years.
The BlackBerry Radar Cloud Services Development team is focused on developing asset tracking software services that will be used by businesses that rent or own railcar chassis trailers and/or cargo carrying containers. The service allows customers to manage their Radar equipped fleet by providing location tracking a host of rich sensor readings alerts on meaningful events analytics on their behavioral data integration into other backoffice systems such as transportation management systems and much more.

We are looking for a Senior Data Developer to join our BlackBerry Radar Cloud Services team. In this new role you will design and developtechnology to help the transportation industry move into the Internet age by connecting their assets to the Cloud. What you will do
Develop and maintain high performance scalable data pipelines to seamlessly transport data between systems
Design and implement Extract Transform Load (ETL) solutions to prepare data for analysis
Work with cloudbased object storage solutions for data storage and retrieval
Utilise Apache Iceberg for data modeling table management and query optimization
Contribute to software development efforts including writing and maintaining code
Conduct data quality checks and implement measures to ensure data accuracy and integrity
Utilize services and tools to automate data pipelines to optimize data retrieval
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support data analysis data mapping and reporting needs
Document data engineering processes and create data flow diagrams
Provide technical expertise and support for datarelated issues including troubleshooting and resolving data pipeline failures
What we need you to bring
Experience in the implementation of extract transform & load (ETL) tooling using Apache Spark or Apache Flink
Proven experiencewith cloudbased object storage solutions for data storage and retrieval
Experience with Apache Iceberg
Proven experience creating and maintaining data pipelines
Data engineering experience working with data lakes data warehouses and big data
Database experience with MySQL OpenSearch and analytical databases such as Apache Druid StarRocks Apache Pinot
Experience with Business Intelligence platforms e.g. PowerBI Tableau Looker
Proven software development experience using Java and/or Python
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High degree of motivation sense of urgency and ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Engineering/Computer Science degree or equivalent experience
