Staff Software Engineer - Identity and Access Management IAM

About the role:

Samsara is seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer to play a leading role in our Identity and Access Management (IAM) team. The teams goal is to secure our cloud mobile and embedded software and infrastructure through a secure development lifecycle including threat models security architecture and reviews continuous integration & deployment and pentesting. We enable the success of Samsaras customers by protecting their data as a precious and privileged resource. We accelerate Samsaras innovation by making Security easy at all stages of work. We protect Samsaras reputation by continually anticipating and remediating risk.

Youll be a thought leader on a team that maintains the identity and access management features of our platform the security and compliance of our infrastructure and our secure software development lifecycle. Youll make decisions with a significant impact on Samsara. There is a lot of work to do to protect our customers and business against risk and wed love for you to be part of it.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except the San Francisco Bay Metro Area NYC Metro Area and Washington D.C. Metro Area.

In this role you will:

• Lead organizationwide projects and develop tools that improve the security and compliance posture of our platform
• Deliver impact by solving the hardest security and compliance problems and enabling products to reach the market quickly and successfully
• Identify and guide prioritization of opportunities for improvement to our security tools and processes
• Increase visibility and knowledge of security best practices to raise the bar across the company
• Act as a multiplier for the team elevating the impact and output of every team member
• Influence the vision and roadmap for security and compliance to support our rapid growth
• Represent Samsara in externalfacing forums: writing on our engineering blog speaking at conferences collaborating with vendors
• Champion role model and embed Samsaras cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success Build for the Long Term Adopt a Growth Mindset Be Inclusive Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Minimum requirements for the role:

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent practical experience
• Deep subject matter expertise in authentication and authorization in multitenant platforms
• 12 years of experience in software design development and algorithm related solutions with at least 4 of those years in an architect or leadership role
• Demonstrated ability to ship productionquality software in a dynamic environment
• Expertise working with web services at massive scale deployed on Cloud providers such as AWS or Azure
• Is an expert in writing high quality performant and maintainable code in a modern programming language
• Know your way around a UNIX shell and a Linux operating system

An ideal candidate also has:

• Has 15 years of relevant industry experience in software development.
• Has experience working with processes that scale well for a team of 500 engineers
• Has experience influencing a companys product and infrastructure security strategy
• Enjoys leading and mentoring engineers to think about systems their life cycles edge cases and failure modes.
• Enjoys enabling crossfunctional collaboration between product finance and engineers with different focuses (frontend mobile firmware computer vision ML)
