Position:SpeechLanguage Pathologist
Reports to:Principal
Supervises:None
Qualifications:
- Hold valid Oklahoma teaching certification in SpeechLanguage Pathology.
- Hold ASHA Certification or be eligible for ASHA Clinical Fellowship.
- Masters degree required.
- Satisfy all district requirements with regard to physical health and citizenship.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
Position Goal:To support students and school teams in the evaluation identification and provision of services related to communication disorders in order to improve their social and educational outcomes.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
- Follows the procedures practices and guidelines outlined by the school site district OSDE and IDEA regulations.
- Selects administers and interprets appropriate assessments to determine the need for speech and/or language services in an educational setting.
- Collaborates with members of a multidisciplinary team to determine eligibility and to develop an education plan as necessary.
- Develops targeted goals to address students needs with the provision of ongoing progress monitoring and service delivery as determined appropriate.
- Provides support to Site Intervention Team(s) to assist with strategies for students who may exhibit communication difficulties impacting their educational day.
- Provides ongoing services/support to staff and teachers to ensure the integration of speech and language strategies including AAC if appropriate into a students classroom environment.
- Conferences with parents/guardians and other appropriate school personnel to provide support and information regarding the student as necessary.
- Remains current in instructional and technological advances and other matters of speechlanguage therapy by participating in professional workshops and conferences.
- Communicates with appropriate agencies schools and other organizations as needed in order to meet the needs of students with communication disabilities.
- Perform other such duties as assigned by supervisor and/or district special education administration.
Employment Terms:Nine 9 months a year. Salary and work year to be established by the Board. Benefits as established by Board policy.

Evaluation:Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Jenks Public Schools Board of Educations policy on Staff Evaluation 2.20 and by Oklahoma State Law.

Occasional Requirements: Reach with hands and arms overhead above shoulder and horizontally; lift/move up to 40 pounds.
Visual Requirements: Close color peripheral depth perception ability to adjust focus.
Hearing/Speaking Requirements: Adequate to exchange information.
