The VA Certifying Official is responsible for all militaryaffiliated benefits processing and related customer service in the Financial Aid Department. This position serves as a liaison between students and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) the Department of Defense (DOD) and other government agencies as appropriate. This position will work to ensure timely and compliant processing of student files and serve as a military aid expert available to students and colleagues within Enrollment Management.

Essential duties:

  • Provide quality services to militaryrelated students in a responsive timely and compassionate manner.
  • Field a high volume of contacts relating to financial aid payment plans and account collections (call center environment).
  • Maintain an expertlevel knowledge base on all financial aid award programs.
  • Assist advise and counsel prospective and current students on the application process and use of their benefits.
  • Report billing and academic progress through VA and DOD systems.
  • Process and reconcile payments following up with government entities on missed or inaccurate payments and refunding overpayments.
  • Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) regarding customer service interactions and benefits processing as outlined in the Military Benefits Standard Operating Procedures.

Candidates must have:

  • College Degree or commensurate higher education experience
  • Proven track record as a customer service champion.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong leadership skills.
