JOB DUTIES (SUMMARY): - Offers direct social work services to physically mentally or emotionally disabled children and adults applying for SSI. Provides a broad range of services including applying for SSA programs assisting clients with the appeal process advising clients about benefits providing necessary forms assisting clients in completing forms inform clients of SSA medical appointments following up with SSA when necessary. Also resolve discrepancies clarify issues for under and overpayments track payments adjudicate and authorize social security and nonpaid placement.
- Assist in establishing entitlement to benefits under social security programs. Obtains client information by interviewing clients verifying information. Determines eligibility by comparing client information to requirements. Contact SSA by phoneschedules appointments. Respond to incoming calls from SSA to answer questions and inquiries.
- Provides financial information to SSA by researching and analyzing placement costs. Completes Representative Payee reports. Prepares workbooks in Excel to retrieve and store data and making all records available for review if requested by SSA.
- Provides benefit payment management for our clients who are incapable of managing their social security payments. Completes payee applications. Report to SSA any changes or events that could affect the clients payment. Provide necessary forms to SSA to continue benefits.
- Process applications for social security numbers and provide necessary forms for the application process. Maintain a digital copy of the application and social security card through OnBase. Advise children service staff about the social security card status and follow up with SSA when necessary. Reviews incoming court entries from Juvenile Court for required documentation per OAC rule and maintains a record in an online database.
- Independently perform clerical functions (e.g. open mail manually and process sort and when necessary deliver mail to the proper recipients gather data completes dictation in SACWIS search files maintains statistical reports and other reports and correspondence as required). Handle timesensitive mail accordingly and log data on the Excel sheet.
- Reviews incoming Post Adoption Special Services Subsidy (PASSS) application packets for required documentation per OAC Rule. Submits PASSS applications to panel for approval and denial. Creates all the PASSS cases in SACWIS and manages the approved applications by generating payments through the invoices submitted by the parents monthly.
- Reviews and processes Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance (ICAMA) cases received through ODJFS and processes ICAMA Medicaid. Screen the child for appropriate Medicaid information in MITS SACWIS and OIES before creating ICAMA Medicaid.
- Attends conferences and training.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL JOB FACTORS: - Must undergo a background check via the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation (BCI). Must have a car valid drivers license issued by the state of residency and required auto liability insurance.
