Job Description
Childrens Hospital of Philadelphia and the Division of Human Genetics in the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Associate Professor positions in the nontenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of human genetics and may include expertise in one or more of the following: computational biology statistical genetics population genetics biomedical informatics complex genetics clinical genetics pharmacogenetics/genomics functional genomics structural variation analysis cancer genetics human phenomics and genomic medicine. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing both collaborative and independent research programs related to human genetics cosupervision of postdoctoral fellows students and other trainees and research staff coordinating NIHfunded grant efforts with local national and international collaborators or independently active leadership in writing grants reports and manuscriptsand mastering of grant writing skills aiming at both academia and industry.
Applicants must have demonstrated substantial experience in aspects of human genetics research as detailed above with a track record of publication and good communication skills. A funding track recordis also expected.
The faculty appointment will be in a department in the School of Medicine that is consistent with the scientific expertise of the successful candidate. Opportunity for a faculty appointment in a second department may be available.
