WHO WE ARE
The Department of General Services Fleet Management Servicesprovides a comprehensive fleet management program that responsibly meets the needs of our county customers. Leading through best practices environmental stewardship and sustainability. We strategically plan maintain acquire and dispose of county fleet vehicles and equipment providing the highest level of cost effective and efficient fleet operations ensuring transparency and accountability through a dedicated highly trained and certified fleet staff.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Employee will work on specific shifts to be assigned based on a 24/7hour operation and will be required to travel to multiple locations to complete work assignments. Employee will provide training guidance and assistance to Mechanic Technicians and lesserskilled employees in diagnosing and resolving difficult and unusual problems encountered in the maintenance and repair of heavyduty vehicles mobile and/or commercial transit equipment.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED or High School Proficiency Examination)
Experience: Seven 7 years of verifiable progressively responsible experience in problem diagnosis repair maintenance and inspection of transit bus automotive heavyduty diesel or gasoline transit buses or heavyduty trucks.
Licenses Registrations Certifications or Special Requirements:
At time of appointment possession and maintenance of:
A Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements issued by applicants state of residence; and;
US Environmental Protection Agency Air Conditioning Certification (Clean Air Act 1990 Section 608 and 609.
Within eighteen 18 months from date of appointment employee must obtain and maintain:
Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certifications as (a) Master MediumHeavy Truck Technician and (b) Master Transit Bus Technician; and
Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) Industrial Forklift Certification.
Physical Demands:Must be able to perform physically strenuous work while standing lying down or sitting; and pull push lift and carry items that weigh up to 100 pounds and occasionally items in excess of 100 pounds.
