Valley of the Sun United Way is looking for an exceptionally qualified Accounting Manager. The Accounting Manager is a key position within the accounting department responsible for managing the full cycle accounting operations. This includes maintaining the general ledger preparing financial reports managing fixed assets ensuring timely reconciliations and resolving discrepancies. This role requires a strong background in accounting financial processes fixed asset management and resolving all reconciliation variances. This position is responsible for processing payroll leading monthend close processes completing reconciliations and supervising accounts payable.
This individual initiate and leads projects and activities with other departments and is responsible for providing support and complex assistance to the Senior Finance Director Assistant Controller and managers throughout the organization.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
Oversee and execute monthend close processes including preparation of journal entries financial reports and ensuring general ledger accuracy.
Perform and review general ledger reconciliations for investment accounts receivables bank reconciliation and other balance sheet accounts ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
Manage and oversee the fixed asset accounting process including recording depreciation and ensure accurate reporting.
Process biweekly payroll in accordance with applicable labor regulations and accounting standards.
Reconcile payrollrelated general ledger accounts and ensure proper classification of transactions.
Ensure compliance with payrollrelated laws and regulations including garnishments taxes and benefits remittances.
Supervise accounts payable providing guidance implementing efficiencies and oversight to ensure accurate and timely processing.
Support financial statement audits and monitoring activities including preparing necessary documentation and addressing auditor inquiries.
Act as a primary point of contact for the accounting team providing technical support and guidance.
Collaborate with crossdepartmental teams to address and resolve accountingrelated matters.
Document and develop processes and procedures to improve operational efficiencies.
Adapt to changing environments and effectively manage multiple priorities.
Organize interpret and communicate financial data to support decisionmaking processes.
Maintain and apply knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to ensure compliance in all accounting functions.
The selected candidate will have the following credentials:
Bachelors degree in accounting finance or a related field.
Minimum of five years of accounting experience including payroll general ledger management and supporting audits.
Proficiency with accounting software and payroll systems (e.g. Paylocity/Great Plains ERP preferred).
Strong analytical organizational and problemsolving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively across departments.
Ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage competing priorities.
