Job Summary:
The College of Nursing at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a parttime Clinical Assistant Professor 12MO). The successful candidate will:
- Teach and supervise students in areas of specialization including doctorallevel courses.
- Implement the Colleges philosophy curriculum program outcomes and course objectives through expert teaching.
- Assume responsibility for all autonomous aspects of individual teaching assignments.
- Use innovative active learning strategies in the classroom and beyond.
- Plan clinical and simulation experiences and provides direct supervision and evaluation of students delivering nursing care as needed.
- Advise students in the area of doctoral work.
- Mentor students in evidencebased research and scholarship.
- Evaluate and provide documented feedback on students performance.
- Be available for remediation of students as required or needed.
- Orient and maintain current knowledge related to agency/clinical policies and procedures.
- Grade homework quizzes tests lab assignments clinical paperwork and other written work promptly.
- Report to the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Community Partnerships.
- Direct research of other teachers or graduate students working for advanced academic degrees.
- Conduct research and publishes findings in professional journals.
Required Qualifications:
- Doctoral Degree in Nursing.
- Current New York State APRN License.
- National Certification.
- 4 years of teaching experience in academia and minimum 3 to 5 years of clinical practice experience in the area of specialization.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Evidence of current scholarship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior teaching experience in Doctor of Nursing Practice education.
