Opal Australian Paper has a proud history in local paper manufacturing. The Maryvale Mill has been operating in Victorias Latrobe Valley since 1937 and manufacturers unbleached kraft linerboard fluting medium bag and sack papers for the growing fibre packaging market in Australia and New Zealand.
The Position
An opportunity exists for a suitably qualified Mechanical Fitters to join this dynamic organisation. The successful applicant must be a selfstarter motivated have strong problem solving skills as well as a high regard for health and safety. As well as possessing good communication organisational and teamwork skills. Applicants may be required to take part in abilities testing as part of the recruitment process.
The person we are seeking must possess the following:
- A Fitting Trade Qualification
- Physically fit and able to work in all areas of the mill
- Ability to carry out shift work
- Proven safety record
Desirable Criteria include:
- Car High risk Elevated work platform Fork truck Mobile tractor crane licenses
- Intermediate Rigging
- Being computer literate to be able to understand computerised Maintenance Management Systems
- Previous experience in heavy industry
- Experience with auxiliary equipment
Wages and conditions will be in accordance with the Opal Australian Paper Maryvale Mill Mechanical Maintenance & Engineering Store Enterprise Agreement 2024 and will depend on the successful applicants skills and qualifications.
