Job Description

Job Announcement

Works as part of the Infant and Toddler Connection (ITC) of FairfaxFalls Church. The EIS I provides initial phone interview with clients to open Early Intervention record to individuals who call ITC. This may include obtaining birth and medical history childs developmental needs familys concerns and needs matching familys needs to community resources in the community and programs in other human services agencies. The EIS I collects required data exercise clinical judgement when considering parents concerns and questions they may have regarding childs development. Maintains clinical record documentation that secures relevant reports summaries data from referral sources/agencies. Documents all interaction and communication with family and other team members adhering to all Part C regulations and documentations. The EIS I may also provide referrals to outside agencies provide information about human service agencies connects individuals to all appropriate community settings and county agencies and can act as a consultant/liaison to community partners.

Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of programs services and community resources in the human services field;
Knowledge of the various Early Intervention disciplines;
Knowledge of normal and atypical child development;
Knowledge of the regulations and processes involving early intervention for infants and toddlers with developmental disabilities;
Knowledge of Early Intervention practices;
Skill in use of personal computer;
Ability to analyze facts and recognize the basic needs of clients;
Ability to interact compassionately with clients and parents;
Ability to work with a wide variety of people including therapists educators other team members and children with disabilities and their parents.

Employment Standards

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education experience and training equivalent to the following:

Graduation from an accredited fouryear college or university with a bachelors degree in Counseling Early Childhood Human Development Psychology Social Work Special Education and other disciplines identified as Allied Health professions; plus one year of directly related Early Intervention experience.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:

NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background check a Child Protective Services Registry check a driving record check and sanction screening to the satisfaction of the employer. A Tuberculosis (TB) screening upon hire.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Early Intervention Part C Certified
  • Prior experience in Early Childhood intervention
  • Knowledge of early childhood development
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Work is generally sedentary in nature; however incumbent may be required to do some walking standing bending and carrying items up to 25 pounds. Ability to operate keyboarddriven equipment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Sufficiently mobile to attend meetings at various locations and make presentations to county staff and community. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
