Position Summary
Department Information: The Department of Chemistry consists of a wellrounded research community with cuttingedge expertise in a wide variety of modern disciplines including analytical chemistry organic chemistry inorganic chemistry physical chemistry materials chemistry and biochemistry. Job Summary: The Thielges lab at Indiana University is seeking to hire a Postdoctoral Scholar with interest in applying timeresolved spectroscopy for uncovering the conformational dynamics of protein function. The available project(s) are focused on developing residuespecific 1D and 2D IR spectroscopy of proteins directed toward measuring their conformational states and dynamics and addressing the functional roles in enzyme catalysis or electron transfer. The work will involve implementing ultrafast spectroscopic experiments analyzing data and communicating the project findings via presentations and peerreviewed publications. The successful applicant will join a highly interdisciplinary research environment with opportunities to collaborate within and outside the group. Postdoctoral Scholars receive guidance to ensure progress toward their career goals whether traditional or alternative. We appreciate the challenges faced by postdoctoral researchers and will afford flexibility to help maintain appropriate worklife balance.
