Job Description

Summary/objective

The Department of Psychological Science is seeking adjunct instructors to teach inperson classes including Introduction to Psychology Developmental Psychology Social PsychologyPsychopharmacologyPsychological Disorders and/or specialized topics related to a candidates areas of expertisebeginning in August 2024. Teaching takes place in our innovative Take2 curricular model where courses are offered in two 7week sessions each semester. The department is seeking instructorswith a strong commitment to teaching excellencewho can teach one or two courses per semester.A MA or Ph.D. in psychologyand teaching experience at the undergraduate level is required.

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures facilitate discussions and develop course materials aligned with the course objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Design and administer various assessment tools (e.g. exams assignments projects) to evaluate students understanding and mastery of course content and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain office hours and be available for individual consultation with students providing academic guidance mentoring and support as needed.

Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of psychological theories principles research methods and applications within the specific content area(s).
  • Ability to design and deliver engaging and interactive lessons facilitate discussions and employ various teaching strategies to accommodate diverse learning abilities.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing fair and appropriate assessment tools grading criteria and providing constructive feedback to support student learning.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment manage classroom dynamics and address student concerns effectively.

  • Masters degree required
  • Teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
