The Portfolio Director (PD) supports the Universitys mission of transforming the lives of students by seeking to expand access to quality education through new and innovative means. We seek a talented PD who is highly respected in the industry and enthusiastic about addressing workforce needs shaping the future of learning and credentialing in the profession and expanding our portfolio in new directions. The role involves engaging and building relationships with new and existing partners.
UMGC is the largest online public university in the country enrolling some 90000 students annually. Locally we are known for our reputation as a Maryland state university making workforcerelevant education accessible and affordable to adult learners and other learners for whom a traditional postsecondary education is not an option.
Residency or relocation to the MD/DC/Northern Virginia metro area is strongly preferred. More specifically this position is classified as hybrid and the work location is Adelphi Maryland. You may primarily work from home; however you will be required to report regularly to the office to engage in facetoface collaborations or reviews with your student experience and support colleagues as well as executive leadership in Adelphi or other locations within the MD/DC/Northern Virginia metro area. You will also be expected to build relationships and partnerships with experts and organizations through facetoface interactions at various events and opportunities.
Additional accountabilities include:
Required education & experience: A demonstrated ability to get things done; an earned Ph.D. or a terminal degree in Business Administration from an accredited institution of higher learning; at least three 3 years of academic experience and five 5 years of professional or managerial experience in a relevant field highly motivated with knowledge of curriculum development; familiar with various modalities of education including Competency Based Education; able to build and maintain productive working relationships and have excellent presentation oral and written communication skills.
Preferred education & experience: Skilled at anticipating averting and solving problems; executive presence with excellent interpersonal skills; experience with nontraditional/adult learners; a particular ease and finesse that results from professional maturity and emotional intelligence; as well as a deep commitment to applying a diversity equity and inclusion lens to all people partnerships and processes.
