Job Description
The News Photographer operates television or video cameras to record images or scenes for news reports.
- Shoots video for news reports
- Confers with news weather & sports staff to discuss assignments logistics and shot requirements
- Sets up composes and executes video shots
- Maintains video equipment
- Edits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia content
- Operates live microwave truck and TVU Backpack gear for remote situations
- Conducts interviews with dignitaries business managers elected officials as well as regular citizens and homeless people
- Listens to scanners for breaking news events
- Responds quickly and shoots video in intense situations
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
- High school diploma
- Fluency in English
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written
- Ability to ask questions in a professional manner
- Minimum one year experience operating video recording equipment
- Proficiency with all electronics
- Proficiency with video editing software Adobe Premier
- Ability to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Flexibility to work any shift
