Job Description

Position Overview:

The Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO) is a highly skilled and flexible healthcare professional responsible for providing prosthetic and orthotic services to patients across multiple locations. This role will have the opportunity to grow an existing clinic and grow into a new market.

Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Evaluation:

  • Perform comprehensive patient assessments to determine the need for prosthetic and orthotic devices.

  • Take precise measurements and castings for custom devices ensuring proper fit and function.

  • Work closely with the medical team including physicians and therapists to evaluate patient needs and treatment goals.

Design and Fabrication:

  • Design fabricate and modify custom prostheses and orthoses based on patient specifications and medical conditions.

  • Select appropriate materials and components for the devices ensuring durability comfort and functionality.

Fitting and Adjustments:

  • Fit devices to patients making necessary adjustments to ensure proper alignment comfort and functionality.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on the proper use care and maintenance of devices.

  • Provide followup care including adjustments and modifications as required based on patient progress or issues.

Patient Education and Support:

  • Provide education to patients on the use of their prosthetic or orthotic devices.

  • Support patients emotionally and physically in adjusting to their new devices.

  • Offer guidance on rehabilitation and assist in developing longterm treatment plans.

Documentation and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and uptodate patient records documenting assessments treatments adjustments and outcomes.

  • Prepare detailed reports for physicians and other healthcare providers ensuring coordination of care.

  • Comply with all legal regulatory and ethical standards in patient care and documentation.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals including doctors physical therapists and occupational therapists to develop and implement effective treatment plans.

  • Provide input on multidisciplinary care teams ensuring a holistic approach to patient care.

  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding treatment options and progress.

  • May require flexibility in hours to meet patient needs or clinic schedules

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelors or masters degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics or a related field. Certification: Certification by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC).

  • Licensure: Valid state licensure as a Prosthetist and Orthotist in states that require a license.

  • Experience: Minimum of 23 years of professional experience as a Certified Prosthetist Orthotist with experience in both prosthetics and orthotics preferred.
