Regional Controller
Buckingham Search is working with a multibrand operator who is currently searching for a Regional Controller to join their exceptional team. With plans to expand into 70 new locations over the next few months this is a chance to be a part of something incredible where youll have the opportunity to work closely with upper management and leave your mark.
Overview
This role oversees all accounting and finance functions for local assets and brands including recently acquired companies. Responsibilities include ensuring timely monthend closes accurate financial reporting and tax compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Finance and Audit
- Manage daily and monthly accounting tasks ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Lead the monthly quarterly and annual closing processes and prepare GAAPcompliant financial statements.
- Work with operations to deliver crucial financial data for decisionmaking.
- Act as the main contact for annual audits with support from the Corporate Controller.
- Analyze financial performance to identify variances from budget targets and previous year results.
Management and Oversight
- Review and enhance current operational processes and implement new procedures.
- Become proficient in ERP and Point of Sale systems.
- Oversee the final review of biweekly payroll.
- Monitor and report on business performance indicators.
- Guide the budgeting process under the direction of the Corporate Controller.
- Recruit train and manage accounting staff for the brand.
Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws regulations and rules.
- Develop and maintain effective internal controls with the Corporate Controller.
- Oversee regulatory reporting including tax planning and compliance.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance. MBA or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in general ledger management GAAP accounting monthly close processes financial statement production cash management budgeting tax filings and team supervision.
- Experience in public accounting with progressive roles in a company demonstrating increasing leadership responsibilities.
Preferred:
- Experience in multiunit retail and/or privateequity backed companies is a plus.
Skills and Competencies
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of Sage Intacct is a plus but not required.
Other Requirements:
- Travel is expected to be less than 25.
- Must be willing to go into the office 5 days a week in their Chicagoland office.
