Job Title: Boiler Operator Class 2
The Boiler Operator Class 2 is responsible for the operation and maintenance of low to mediumpressure boilers and related equipment ensuring the safe efficient and reliable supply of heat hot water and steam. The role includes monitoring equipment performing routine maintenance and responding to emergencies with an emphasis on safety and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate Class 2 boilers and auxiliary equipment such as pumps fans and heat exchangers in accordance with safety protocols and manufacturer instructions.
- Conduct routine inspections cleanings and repairs to keep boiler systems and auxiliary equipment functioning at optimal levels.
- Adjust control systems valves and gauges to maintain desired steam pressure water levels and fuel consumption.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards including state and local boiler codes safety regulations and environmental guidelines.
- Perform regular tests on boiler water and implement necessary adjustments to water treatment processes to prevent corrosion and scaling.
- Maintain accurate logs of boiler operations maintenance and inspections. Document any malfunctions repairs and regulatory compliance activities.
- Monitor fuel usage heat output and system efficiency to optimize energy consumption and recommend improvements.
- Lubricate adjust and repair various mechanical and electrical components of the boiler system as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Vocational training or apprenticeship in boiler operation is preferred.
- Class 2 Boiler Operator license/certification required as per state and local regulations.
- 13 years of experience operating and maintaining boilers preferably Class 2 or similar systems.
- Solid understanding of boiler operations troubleshooting maintenance practices safety regulations and chemical treatment processes.
- Knowledge of basic plumbing electrical and HVAC systems.
