Math Intervention Teacher

Purpose Statement:

The job of Math Intervention Teacher is done for the purpose/s of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for developing intervention strategies and student success in academics (e.g. reading writing language math etc.; coordinating programs and activities for paraprofessionals; supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines benchmarks and standards; collaborating with other teachers other professional staff and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from teachers and students parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.

This job reports to Building Principal.

Essential Functions

Provides students with interventions differentiated strategies and instructional materials that address individualized and/or small group learning plans.

Administers math assessments and tests for the purpose of assessing the level of students math competencies.

Assesses students progress toward objectives expectations and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students parents and administration as well as aligning with interventions.

Collaborates with instructional staff PLC teams other school personnel parents and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes creating common assessments analyzing data identifying students in need of interventions and achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.

Communicates with students (e.g. improving performance health status promoting healthy selfconcept problem solving techniques and a variety of personal issues etc. for the purpose of providing successful activities and experiences in specific skill areas and school in general.

Coordinates math instruction and the developmental programs for the purpose of developing interventions cooperatively with classroom teachers to adequately meet the needs of targeted students.

Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that addresses individual student requirements.

Establishes and maintains a variety of written materials (e.g. grades attendance anecdotal records records and reports concerning target pupils etc. for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandated requirements.

Identifies areas of specific need for pupils for the purpose of planning how these needs may be met through interventions specific materials and individualized and/or small group instruction.

Instructs targeted atrisk students in content area subjects (e.g. math concepts fluency accuracy computation etc. for the purpose of improving their success in math through a defined course of study.

Manages student behavior for the purpose of providing a safe and optimal learning environment.

Monitors students in a variety of educational environments (e.g. classroom playground field trips hall lunchroom commons activity settings etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.

Participates in activities designed to enhance communication with parents and/or legal guardians (e.g. parentteacher conferences activities designed to help parents understand assessments and standards parent training annual Title I parent meeting reports of student progress etc. for the purpose of communicating expectations and students achievement; developing methods for improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.

Participates in a variety of meetings (e.g. staff department RTIs curriculum RTIs Title I etc. for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.

Performs major job responsibilities outside the actual instruction of students (e.g. collection and ordering of materials developing and providing supervisor plans and schedules notifying staff of changes in schedule and programs of target students etc. for the purpose of maintaining a quality program for staff and students.

Reports incidents (e.g. fights suspected child abuse suspected substance abuse etc. for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students providing a positive learning environment and adhering to Education Code and school policies.

Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g. other teachers parents administrators etc. for the purpose of resolving issues providing information and/or direction.

Supports classroom teachers for the purpose of assisting them in the implementation of established curriculum and/or individual student plans.

Other Functions

Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications Skills Knowledge and Abilities

SKILLS are required to perform multiple highly complex technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skillbased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: applying assessment instruments; operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; and preparing and maintaining accurate records.

KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledgebased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: appropriate codes policies regulations and/or laws; age appropriate activities; lesson plan requirements; stages of child development; current researchbased methods strategies materials and activities in content areas; and behavioral management strategies.

ABILITY is required to schedule a number of activities meetings and/or events; gather collate and/or classify data; and use jobrelated equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize specific jobrelated equipment. Problem solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data frequently requires independent interpretation ofguidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited to moderate. Specific abilitybased competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: establishing and maintaining constructive relationships; adapting to changing work priorities; maintaining confidentiality; exhibiting tact and patience; and working flexible hours.

Responsibility

Responsibilities include: working under limited supervision using standardized practices and/or methods; leading guiding and/or coordinating others; utilization of resources from other work units is often required to perform the jobs functions. There is some opportunity to significantly impact the organizations services.

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling frequent stooping kneeling crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 34 sitting 33 walking and 33 standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.

Experience: Job related experience is required.

Education: Bachelors degree in jobrelated area.

Equivalency Required Testing Certificates: Appropriate Wyoming State Department of Education Certificate endorsement and highly qualified status

Clearances: Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
