Location/Division Specific Information:

The Asheville Manufacturing site is in the Laboratory Products Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific. Our laboratory equipment products are used primarily by pharmaceutical companies for drug discovery and development and by biotechnology companies and universities for life science research to advance the prevention and cure of diseases and enhance quality of life. Our offering consists of equipment accessories and services for sample preparation storage and protection and analysis. Must be willing to work overtime to include Saturdays.

How Will You Make an Impact:

You will support the manufacturing process by fabricating and constructing refrigeration systems required for standard and custom equipment.

A Day in the Life:

  • Establish and optimize manufacturing processes methods and procedures to assure product conformance quality and cost effectiveness.
  • Resolve production issues and keep production running to support customer requirements until corrective actions can be implemented. Partner with Setup Maintenance Quality Operators and other groups as needed.
  • Identify and implement Continuous Improvement projects and/or general improvement projects applying Lean methodologies and PPI (Practical Process Improvement) tools.
  • Provide technical assistance and expertise to manufacturing in problematic situations implementing corrective actions and providing training.
  • Establish and maintain manufacturing specifications i.e. BOM (Bill of Materials) routings set up sheets and other related technical recommendations and documentation.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Required: Minimum of 2 years of work experience in a manufacturing operations production lab setting or related field
  • Preferred: Experience in a cGMP environment

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Ability to read and differentiate part numbers labels and work instructions.
  • Follows company policies including safety and environmental policies.
  • Selfstarter with ability to react quickly to changing priorities.
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks set priorities and meet expected production goals.

Physical Requirements / Work Environment

  • Standing bending reaching and handling bulky parts is common to the job. Frequently lifts up to 50 pounds.
