Job Summary:
To evaluate brain function when brain injury or impairment is suspected due to trauma aging illness or treatment using a series of tests involving such functions as memory recognition following directions language emotion and other physical or mental attributes. Provides recommended treatment options to primary care physicians specialists therapists and other relevant professionals.Responsibilities:
Essential Functions
Performs neuropsychological assessments of individuals to aide in the diagnosis and treatment plan based upon the appropriate use interpretation and integration of data from a variety of sources including psychological and neuropsychological tests selfreport measures rating scales direct and indirect structured observations and interviews with patients family members and others involved in the patients care.
Assists physicians to gain better understanding of a neurological problem in order to take appropriate steps by recommending a treatment plan for a neuropsychological diagnosis.
Responsible for providing and receiving highly complex sensitive distressing and emotional information in relation to mental and physical health issues where there are often difficulties in terms of acceptance or understanding.
Communicates across language and cultural barriers including working for sustained periods of time by communicating with patients care givers or groups through professional interpreters or advocates.
Maintains complete patient records by documenting data diagnosis and recommended treatment plans appropriately. Documents consultations with other practitioners/physicians.
Complies with the bylaws rules and regulations of the organization as they pertain to Neuropsychology and clinical evaluation.
Participates in performance improvement and outcome management. Meets regularly with medical director for chart reviews to identify concerns or improvement opportunities in patient care according to clinic policy.
Participates in patient satisfaction and other quality improvement initiatives including participation in the tracking of variances in patient care.
Maintains uptodate knowledge of local resources and service/professional links legislation national and local policies and issues in relation to both the specific service and mental health in general.
