Principal Data Architects play a critical role in this bringing a high level of expertise in Data Analytics Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning including Data Governance and Compliance. These architects combine technical depth with business acumen enabling them to confidently engage stakeholders at all levelsfrom engineers to the Csuitethroughout the entire technology adoption lifecycle.


Principal Data Architects are assigned to multiple strategic accounts where they act as trusted technical advisors. They are respected thought leaders who challenge and guide clients in a collaborative respectful manner to ensure maximum value from their technology investments.


In addition to their clientfacing responsibilities Principal Architects actively contribute to the sales processoften in a presales or subject matter expert (SME) capacity. They partner with Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope opportunities define technical solutions and help craft detailed statements of work. Their involvement in ongoing account management is essential to sustaining longterm client success.


Principal Architects may also take on leadership responsibilities dedicating approximately 10 of their time to mentoring supporting and developing a team of architects and engineers as people managers.



What youll be doing:


Principal Data Architects are expected to provide deep business and technical expertise across Data Analytics Data Processing Data Governance & AI & ML areas as part of the role you will:

  • Report directly to OpsGuru Engineering Leadership.
  • Confidently discuss every stage of the technology adoption cycle all the way from the CEO to the developer across multiple technical domains.
  • Assigned to a number of accounts and are expected to work with their clients to become a trusted technical advisor.
  • Thought leadership.
  • Contribute to internal and external evangelism by creating and sharing content such as blog posts whitepapers and case studies that highlight best practices and success stories
  • Represent OpsGuru at conferences and industry events as a speaker panelist or subject matter expert as appropriate
  • Guide and challenge clients in a respectful manner to ensure they receive the highest level of value from their technology investments.
  • Provide oversight to project teams to ensure technical outcomes align to solving customer business problems within project budgets and timelines
  • Work with Engagement Managers to help manage project scope and work with project teams and customers to help manage project expectations and delivery quality
  • Comfortably discuss budget considerations and ROI with stakeholders ensuring clients understand how recommended technologies align with financial and strategic goals
  • Participate in the sales process typically in a presales or equivalent capacity.
  • Work alongside our Account Executives and Presales Architects to scope and provide support on creating statements of works for our clients as well as being heavily involved in account management.


While this role is largely focused around technical and consulting based delivery directly with customers the Principal Data Architect may also be required to act as a people manager for a team of several direct reports of Architects and Engineers.


This would include tasks such as having regular onetoone meetings having professional development and goal setting conversations and acting as part of a communication and feedback system with your direct team. Additionally you would help to escalate administrative or project related issues brought to your attention and provide recommendations towards performance reviews and promotions for your team.


Your skills & experience:

  • Technical and Consulting:
    The ideal candidate applying for the Principal Data Architect Role has the following:
    • 10 years of experience in a relevant Information Technology environment
    • 7 years of experience delivering Professional Services on major cloud providers (Amazon Web Services must Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure nice to have) focusing on the following programs 3 minimum):
      • Large Scale workload migrations (on prem to cloud cloud to cloud)
      • Data Platform modernisation
      • Modern large scale Lakehouse Implementations
      • Data Security Governance and Compliance
      • Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence Implementations
    • Technological Exposure:
      • Previous hands on experience with AWS (Must) Azure / Google Cloud (Nice to have)
      • Python for Data Analytics
      • Relational databases design tuning and migration
      • Experience with Enterprise Data Warehouses
      • Data Lakes Data Pipelines and ETLs
      • Stream & Batch Processing with frameworks like Spark
      • Data modeling for both transactional and analytics
      • BI Dashboards & Data Visualizations
      • Data Quality gates Data Lineage Data Catalogue
      • Exposure to Machine Learning and MLOps Frameworks (ex: Sagemaker)
      • Exposure to Generative AI and foundational models
    • A history of delivering presentations to a wide ranging audience including CxOVP Director level executives
    • A history of managing multiple complex projects with a wide variety of stakeholders simultaneously
    • Technical PreSales experience with the ability to provide strong SME guidance in customerfacing sales and presales conversations.
    • Able to confidently model costs and explain the total cost of ownership model of a proposed solution.
    • A history of holding a budget and is able to model project costs and provide resourcing plans
    • A history of handling customer requests and escalations and is able to confidently resolve challenges on projects effectively and swiftly.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    • Able to provide candid and constructive feedback to team members

    • Experience leading technical teams and providing quality control at both the macro and micro level.
    • Participate in recruiting efforts including crafting job descriptions interviewing candidates and evaluating new hires to build a highperforming team
    • Oversee the onboarding process ensuring new team members have the resources training and support needed to succeed
