Job Description

SA Recycling a world leader in the metals recycling and processing industry is looking for a hardworking dependable and safety minded individuals to join our team as a Laborer. As a Laborer your main responsibility will be decommissioning vehicles by removing fluids batteries and other components prior to sending them to the crusher or shredder. You will also be responsible for the unloading processing and disassembly of various types of s metal; yard clean up and maintenance; and other general physical labor duties to ensure the highest quality of s material is processed and shipped to our customers in a safe effective manner.

This position will work outside in varying weather conditions and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health Safety and Environmental standards.

Working hours are from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday and on Saturdays as needed.

Responsibilities of a Laborer

  • Operate a wheeled front end loader to move vehicles and other material around the recycling yard.
  • Prepare vehicles for crushing/shredding by draining and capturing all fluids; and removing the battery catalytic converter and other identified vehicle parts.
  • Operate various hand tools and fixed equipment air compressors vehicle racks CFC recovery equipment hydraulic shears and heavy equipment.
  • Recaptures refrigerants on received appliances air conditioners and vehicles.
  • Basic sorting of s as well as metal and debris in preparation for processing.
  • Provide a safe environment for all employees customers and visitors.
  • Perform daily inspections on equipment reporting any defects or needed repairs to supervisor.
  • Provide backup or help throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
  • Comply with all applicable federal state local & SA Recycling safety health & environmental rules regulations policies & procedures.

Qualifications of a Laborer

  • High School diploma GED Certification or equivalent work experience.
  • 1year previous auto decommissioning/processing experience preferred.
  • Front end loader or telescoping boom forklift experience preferred.
  • Basic understanding of HVAC systems preferred.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) a plus.
  • Ability to carry out instructions provided in written oral or diagrammatic form.
  • Ability to learn new tasks as assigned required.
