Job Description
- Compounding and dispensing medications as prescribed by physicians
- Serves patients by preparing medications giving pharmacological information to the multidisciplinary health care team and monitoring patient drug therapies
- Review and execute physicians prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality
- Monitoring customers drug therapies advising interventions and informing customers of any potential side effects
- Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster
- Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders and detecting therapeutic incompatibilities
- Providing immunizations and other medical services such as taking blood pressure temperature measurements and checking blood sugar levels
- Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians workflow verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals and verifying order entries charges and inspections
- Ensuringthe pharmacy complieswith all local state and federal regulations
- Ensuring a safe and clean working environment
- Conducting health and wellness screenings
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures rules and regulations
- Adhering to applicable legal rules regulations and procedures governing pharmaceutical practice
- Educating patients and staff on drug therapies
- Keeping accurate customer records
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in pharmacy or pharmacology
- Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement chemical compounds medical brands etc
- Valid state pharmacist license (or must meet education requirement(s) for state licensure)
- Proven experience as a pharmacist
- Excellent communication skills with a customer oriented approach
- The ability to understand customers medical staff and coworkers
- Detailed understanding and knowledge of dosage requirements and administration chemical compounds and pharmaceutical brands
- The ability to solveproblems and weigh the merits of different possible solutions
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and software applications used by pharmacies such as MEDITECH and Mediware
- Great organizational skills
