Summary
The Applied Statistics and Operations Research Department invites applications for an Associate/FullProfessor in Data Science and Novak Family Professorship in Data Science. The Professorship has a term of five academic years for a new hire (nonrenewable).

TheDepartment of Applied Statistics and Operations Research (ASOR) at Bowling Green State University part of the Schmidthorst College of Business plays a pivotal role in the increasingly datadriven business environment. ASOR offers a specialization in Business Analytics and Intelligence along with a minor in Applied Statistics at the undergraduate level and advanced degrees including a Master of Science in Applied Statistics Master of Science in Data Science and PhD in Data Science (in collaboration with the department of computer science and department of mathematics).
The departments mission centers on quantitative reasoning and decisionmaking offering students expertise in statistics and operations research that is applicable across various disciplines. Faculty emphasize both theoretical knowledge and practical application preparing students for careers in business administration statistics and operations research. Through teaching research and service ASOR fosters critical thinking problemsolving and ethical behavior aiming to produce graduates ready for leadership roles.
ASOR is also committed to collaborative research and outreach offering professional assistance to both the university and external organizations including through the Center for Business Analytics which delivers practical solutions to companies. The departments faculty are dedicated to continuous improvement in education research productivity and service to the professional community.

Responsibilities include teaching in the Masters and PhD Data Science programs as well as teaching undergraduate courses active engagement in research and publication and involvement in department college university and professional service. An active research agenda in the area of business analytics data visualization or artificial intelligence as applied to business disciplines that can lead to scholarly publications in high quality journals is required. Service duties may also include engaging with alumni industry professionals recruiters and promotion of programs.
Minimum Qualifications
- A doctoral degree in Statistics Data Science Computer Science Business Analytics Operations Research or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching and an established record of quality research.
- Current rank of Associate Professor or Professor.
- Industrial experience experience working with companies on data science projects or experience obtaining external research grants.
