Job Description:

The Senior Factory Controls Engineer oversees the production readiness of inuse equipment to ensure the business units requirements are met for production use. The Engineer will support operations maintenance quality and production personnel in the troubleshooting of functional problems and guide maintenance activities to eliminate functionality issues of equipment and systems throughout the entire Indianapolis campus. Must be willing to work 2nd shift.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provides support to 5 plants at the Indianapolis campus for all Engineering related matters that cannot be solved at the plantlevel

• Use extensive knowledge and experience in a variety of Engineering disciplines to provide guidance to hourly job setters skilled trades and Engineers on managing machine performance breakdowns

• Support continuous improvement activities within all production processes.

Competencies and Behaviors:

• Ability to work multifunctionally across Plant operations.

• Strong understanding of AllenBradley Fanuc & Siemens control systems.

• Ability to organize and balance multiple priorities.

• Ability to diagnose/troubleshoot any controls system when required regardless of having prior knowledge or experience.

• Strong background in Siemens and/or Fanuc Control Systems (or others) with working knowledge of old and new CNC systems.

• Ability to power up and solve a wide variety of machine tool control problems.

• Advanced level of machine tool control programming ability and knowledge.

• Advanced level electrical/mechanical troubleshooting knowledge.

• Working knowledge of machine tool applications.

• Strong working knowledge of analog and digital servo systems.

• Strong PLC troubleshooting abilities for AllenBradley family of PLCs PLC 5 Studio 5000 series of control systems.

• Strong skills with AllenBradley FactoryTalk View Studio Programming for HMIs.

• Familiar with lean manufacturing principles for machining and assembly operations.

• Willingness to work occasional weekends and holidays as business units work requires.

• Willingness to be on call on a rotational basis.

• Willingness to work 2nd shift or split shift schedules.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor or associates degree in electrical engineering Electrical Engineering Technology Mechanical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience required.

• Must be authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future

Experience:

Required:

• 5 years experience as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment.

• Experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems both in troubleshooting and design.

• Experience with the development implementation and support of industrial control systems that perform control monitoring data acquisition logging and alarming functions.

• Experience with AllenBradley PAC/PLC control systems.

• Experience with Siemens PAC PLC/CNC controls systems.

• Experience with Fanuc CNC controls systems.

• Experience with programming of AllenBradley HMIs.

• Experience with device communication networks including AllenBradley DH Device Net RIO Ethernet IP etc.

Preferred:

• 7 years of experience as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment.

• Basic experience with leak testing methodologies and systems.

• Experience with large drive systems specifically AllenBradley and Unico.

• Experience with AllenBradley/Cisco industrial networking.

• Experience with Fanuc and Siemens CNC Control Systems.

• Experience with Fanuc robotics programming.

• Experience with vision systems used in manufacturing processes.

• RFID system experience specifically Balluff.

• Knowledge of best practices in automotive and equipment manufacturing.
