Bookkeeper & Accounting Assistant

Location: Knoxville TN (InOffice)Schedule: Monday Friday 8:30 AM 5:30 PM

Reports to: Sr. Bookkeeper / Office Manager

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Bookkeeper and Accounting Assistant to manage multiple sets of books process tenant payments handle leasehold postings and manage financial transactions. This role requires a highly organized professional who can balance accuracy with efficiency while working in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain 24 small sets of books (with opportunities to take on more responsibility).
  • Reconcile up to 60 sets of books across various properties using QuickBooks Online and Excel.
  • Manage tenant ledgers process rent payments and handle leasehold postings.
  • Process Common Area Maintenance (CAM) expenses for commercial properties.
  • Reconcile accounts balance financials at the end of the month and generate financial reports.
  • Enter deposit slips checks journal entries property insurance and property taxes.
  • Assist with yearend closings and audit preparation.
  • Process payroll receive employee time reports and enter data into Excel.
  • Use financial sheets with preset Excel formulas for calculations.
  • Provide backup administrative support including answering phones when necessary.
  • Work closely with the property management and development teams to ensure accurate financial documentation and reporting.
  • Maintain a professional detailoriented and teamfocused work ethic.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 35 years of fullcharge bookkeeping experience (preferably in real estate or property management).
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online and Excel is required.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and real estate/property management accounting.
  • Experience managing tenant ledgers leasehold postings and financial transfers.
  • Ability to multitask effectively while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and a professional demeanor.
  • Must be comfortable working onsite in a collaborative nonsmoking office environment.
