About the Job:
The Research & Development Shop Manager is responsible for the overall management of the R&D Shop including the leadership of a team of technicians machinists and engineering support staff. This role emphasizes safety efficiency and effective project management.
Responsibilities:
Lead and oversee the team of technicians machinists and engineering support staff in their daily operations.
Facilitate monthly performance discussions and provide continuous feedback to team members.
Prioritize engineering requests and ensure projects are completed on time and efficiently.
Monitor project progress and address any issues or delays promptly.
Collaborate with engineering manufacturing production support and marketing teams to ensure smooth workflow on joint initiatives.
Procure and manage the equipment tools suppliers and parts necessary for safe and efficient shop operations.
Oversee the repair and maintenance of all machinery tools and equipment in the R&D shop.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies providing training to foster a safe and clean work environment.
Organize and manage storage areas for parts projects (both past and present) equipment and machinery across various R&D facilities.
Assist in sorting and organizing parts from previous projects and returned customer products requiring engineering evaluation.
Support R&D facility design remodeling or expansion projects as needed.
Identify and implement effective procedures systems and processes to maintain a safe efficient and effective R&D shop prioritizing people over processes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team effectively.
Excellent organizational and time management skills capable of managing multiple projects and tasks simultaneously.
A solid understanding of mechanical systems and correct repair procedures.
Prior experience in a technical role such as technician or mechanic.
A strong desire to learn
Selfmotivated with a proactive approach to work and problemsolving.
Reliable with a proven track record of following through on commitments.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to simplify complex tasks and concepts.
