Job Description

Essential Functions:

Day to Day operations: The Nursing Unit Manager works with the Nursing Leadership team to plan develop organize implement and direct the daytoday functions of the Nursing Service Department in accordance with current federal state and local standards guidelines and regulations that govern our facility and as directed by the Director of Nursing and Assistant Director of Nursing to ensure that the highest degree of quality care is maintained at all times.

Duties/Responsibilities: In this role you will oversee the Clinical Staff review complaints and grievances they file and report findings to the Director of Nursing as required. You will conduct interviews for Nurses and Aides in the skilled nursing unit participate in New Hire Orientation and monitor and track competency checklists. Additionally you will track employee licensures and certifications assisting employees with renewals when necessary. You will make nursing and aide assignments as needed and support MDS by completing onsite Nursing assessments.

Administration: Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms reports evaluations studies charting etc. as necessary. Complete performance reviews and corrective actions for nurses as needed. Review and update clinical policies as directed by the Director Nursing. Set up PCC for new employees and build new assessments as needed.

Communication: Authority and responsibility for ensuring appropriate intervention and education occurs with staff volunteers and medical staff. Support and participate in interdisciplinary performance and quality improvement process.

Teamwork: Will assume responsibility in oncall rotation for leadership. Partners with the Medical Director and facility leaders to develop implement and evaluate annual education and infection prevention goals and action plan. Collaborate with pharmacy consultant on audits and educational opportunities for nurses. Participate in corporate compliance meetings quarterly and QAPI meetings monthly. Assist Clinical Staff on daytoday functions as necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Must possess as a minimum a Registered Nursing Degree from an accredited college or university.

Must possess a current unencumbered active license to practice as an RN in this state.

Current CPR certification required.

Minimum of two years experience in a longterm care environment.

Ability to work in a fastpaced environment with multiple competing demands for time and attention.

Ability to lead direct and motivate others to innovate and excel.

Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of associates residents and family members.

Ability to apply reason logic and advanced problemsolving skills to resolve complex and/or sensitive issues.

Excellent written communication skills including proper grammar and professional writing.

Ability to read at a level to understand care notes and written directives of medical practitioners.

Strong computer skills and keyboarding skills with proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and the ability to quickly master new applications.

Positive attitude enthusiasm and energy.

Unquestionably sound ethics.

Works well in team environment

Manage multiple priorities and deadlines through disciplined approaches and clear communication.

The ability to locate track organize and summarize information.

Working Conditions:

Involved with physicians residents personnel visitors government agencies/personnel etc. under all conditions and circumstances.

Subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g. severe weather evacuation postdisaster etc..

Involved in community/civic health matters/projects as appropriate.

Attends and participates in continuing educational programs.

Subject to injury from falls burns from equipment odors s from hostile residents etc. throughout the work day as well as reactions from dust disinfectants tobacco smoke and other air contaminants.

Subject to exposure to infectious waste diseases conditions etc. including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.

May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals



Physical Environment:

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.

Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner.

Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.

Must be able to see hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that this positions requirements can be fully met.

Must function independently and have flexibility personal integrity and the ability to work effectively with residents personnel and support agencies.

Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which include a medical and physical examination.

Must be able to relate to and work with the ill disabled elderly emotionally upset and at times hostile people within St. Anns Home.

Must be able to push pull move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push pull move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.

May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
