You will be updated with latest job alerts via emailThe Hertie School is recruiting a tenuretrack Assistant Professor of Social Data Science. We are looking for a scholar who can combine stateoftheart research in data science with research in the social sciences and public policy. The successful candidate will contribute to core courses in machine learning and data science teaching in the Schools MSc Data Science for Public Policy programme.
The Hertie School seeks faculty with demonstrated capacity for research at the highest levels in their discipline through a record of publication in top outlets. We recruit faculty who will create a climate that embraces excellence and diversity with a strong commitment to highquality teaching and innovative research of interest to the international scholarly community and policymakers. This position will be based in the Hertie Schools Data Science Lab and the successful candidate will actively contribute to its research outreach and teaching activities while developing their own profile.
Applicants for this position must have a PhD (or expect to have this degree by the start of employment). Their research agenda innovates in or applies data science such as machine learning natural language processing causal inference or related areas to questions relevant to public policy social science or related disciplines according to the focus of the School.
Candidates should enjoy working in an interdisciplinary international environment with English as the language of instruction and operation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach in the Schools Master Executive and PhD programmes. Teaching experience in machine learning statistics mathematics natural language processing and related areas is a plus.
The successful candidate will be appointed as Assistant Professor with a sixyear clock (two threeyear contracts) with the possibility of tenure. The expected start date is 1 August 2023.
