Title: Automation Engineer
Our client a fullservice plastic injection molding contract manufacturer and FDAcertified medical device manufacturer is seeking an Automation Engineer at its established manufacturing site outside of Erie Pennsylvania.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Engineering Manager the Automation Engineer directs and coordinates the planning through to the completion of external and internal project work related to automation equipment parts handling systems including EOATs and specialty secondary equipment/systems by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities and Functions:
- Lead projects from Estimating Launch through Engineering Review Release and Layout meetings collaborating with the Project Engineer on supplier quote reviews and approvals.
- Manage automation requirements ensuring compliance with customer specifications unique part handling and conveyance needs.
- Oversee budgets and track delivery timelines for automation projects coordinating internal fabrication or outsourced solutions.
- Serve as a project team member for new product development ensuring customer standards regulatory compliance and equipment specifications are met.
- Coordinate automation development scheduling and engineering design resolutions while maintaining direct customer communication on project progress.
- Troubleshoot automation issues working with Manufacturing Engineering to determine root causes and implement solutions.
- Evaluate and authorize changes to automation equipment tracking impact on project timing and costs.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement by researching emerging technologies optimizing aging equipment and enhancing process efficiency.
- Support crossfunctional teams including Manufacturing Engineering Processing Quality Assurance and Tool Shop while assisting with predictive/preventive maintenance planning.
- Travel entertain customers and assess suppliers as required.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with familiarity in machine design plastic injection molding automated parts handling decorating and assembly systems.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings with basic 2D and 3D CAD skills.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to apply probability statistics geometry and trigonometry to problemsolving.
- Ability to interpret business and technical documents corporate procedures and governmental regulations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for engaging with internal teams external customers and suppliers.
- Proficiency in computer applications including spreadsheets word processing and ERP systems.
- Strong problemsolving skills with the ability to analyze complex data interpret technical instructions and manage abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk climb and sit. Regularly uses hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard tools and equipment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and electrical circuits. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
