Reporting to the Executive Director of Design & Construction the Associate Director of Facilities and Engineering provides inhouse engineering expertise in MEP Systems (HVAC Electrical Plumbing Fire Protections & Energy) to support the University. Responsibilities include: Management of the Engineering department to coordinate engineering efforts campus wide training of junior personnel development of processes and standards. Provide strategic planning and recommendations to administration as well as the Design and Construction Department. Required to sign and stamp drawings as needed. Coordinate engineering support for new and renovation projects developing design standards design reviews construction phase reviews and periodic site observations provide inhouse design when appropriate and coordination with external architectural and engineering consultants in their design efforts. Coordinate engineering support to develop design preferences preferred makes/models update design standards document standard SOPs standardize control sequences improve documentation of existing systems and equipment develop process improvements. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field with at least five years of relevant experience to include experience in design design management and/or project management of MEP building systems required. NYS (or eligible) Professional Engineers license required by time of appointment. Excellent written/oral communication interpersonal organizational analytical and computer skills required.
Experience in health care engineering management of a design/engineering group familiarity with the following regulations: Department of Health (DOH) DNV Facilities Guidelines (FGI) NYS Building Codes NYS Code Enforcement Officer NFPA standards preferred.
