Job Summary The Hope Advocate provides support advocacy options and internal and external referrals to domestic and sexual violence survivors. This position requires a commitment to assisting survivors (including those in our residential sites) achieve selfdefined goals the ability to establish and maintain professional boundaries strong communication skills and acceptance of social and cultural diversity.
Primary Responsibilities
Direct Client Services Responsible for all client intake and ongoing support functions through the agencys client base. Conduct checkins with clients and provide necessary followup advocacy. Support survivor safety and assist with safety planning including the residential clients. Provide advocacy on behalf of clients working with communitybased systems such as law enforcement courts social services mental health providers and substance abuse services. Accompany clients to appointments to secure financial assistance explore longterm housing options arrange for childcare and obtain legal assistance. Provide legal advocacy including assistance with protection orders survivors compensation divorce filings child support and criminal/civil court support. Identify resources within the community and maintain good working relationships with community programs helping clients. Immediately report suspected child abuse and neglect to Child Protection Services. Help with other direct services components of programming as needed.
Indirect Client Services Compile quantitative and qualitative data. Ensure accuracy and timeliness of client file management. Develop and maintain good working relationships with key local and statewide contacts. Maintain professional and effective working relationships with other organizations community leaders and perform other related duties as assigned. Skills and Qualifications Minimum Requirements:
Robust understanding of issues facing survivors of domestic violence sexual and other violent crimes. Commitment to providing clientcentered empowermentbased services to survivors of crime. Bachelors Degree from accredited institution. 13 years professional experience with increasing responsibility. Remarkable interpersonal skills and selfawareness. Strong attention to detail. Able to pass background check and drug screen. Valid drivers license reliable transportation proof of insurance and clean driving record. Some evening weekend and overnight availability.
Desired Qualifications: Bilingual English/Spanish. Bachelors degree in social services field. Impeccable written and oral communication skills. Some evening weekend and overnight work will be involved.
