Job Summary

The Activities Coordinator will develop and implement creative activities for CareLinks residents in accordance with each residents comprehensive assessment as well as the interests and physical mental and psychosocial wellbeing of each resident. The activities program should provide stimulation or solace; promote physical cognitive and/or emotional health and enhance to the extent practical each residents physical and mental status and promote each residents selfrespect by providing activities that support selfexpression and choice. The Activities Coordinator must be devoted and compassionate about their chosen career and have a highly enthusiastic personality as well as have experience supporting individuals living with behavioral and mental health diagnosis.


Schedule:

Monday through Friday 8:00am 4:00pm


Pay Rate:

$18.25 an hour


Essential Functions


  • Conducts and/or assists with assignments and assigned activity groups.
  • Organizes onetoone activities utilizing interpersonal needs to meet residents needs.
  • Creates plans and posts in advance group activities recreational programs special entertainment and special holiday events.
  • Leads and participates in individual and group activities suited to meet the needs of the individual patients.
  • Provides input and assistance with activity planning.
  • Escorts residents to and from activities.
  • Reports any changes in patient conduct or physical condition to the patients nurse.
  • Evaluates and records behavior participation and progress of patients in groups and/or 1:1.
  • Maintains necessary supply materials and equipment.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.

  • Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Performs job within framework of agency site and professional standards.
  • Participates in staff meetings and training programs.
  • Attends and participates in agency events.
  • Adheres to agency/site policies and procedures including HIPAA requirements.
  • Cooperates and coordinates with Regional Director on all operational issues.
  • Projects a positive attitude and image to staff participants family members and outside contacts.
  • Uses appropriate communication channels.
  • Completes assignments independently and within specified time frames.
  • Participates in achievement of agency objectives goals and mission.
  • Displays motivation and interest in working creatively with people who have mental illness/disabilities.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make sound judgements regarding the welfare of people served.
  • Displays ability to take direction.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of basic principles and methods of clinical psychology and psychiatric rehabilitation.
  • Follows agency dress code.
  • Adheres to supervisors requests.
  • Cooperates with other staff and exhibit positive attitude toward position and agency.
  • Contributes to the growth and development of services.
  • Shows initiative and demonstrate good judgement.
  • Follows instructions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Works as scheduled to assure coverage.
  • Performs job in a safe manner.
  • Reports/addresses safety concerns in a timely manner
Requirements

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Work Experience: Must have at least 1 year experience in conducting therapeutic group activities

Certifications Licenses Registrations Required: Valid Drivers License

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in a mental health or rehabilitation setting.
  • Experience in activity/creative clinical strategies (art and music) preferred but not required.
  • Ability to relate positively and favorably to residents families and other employees.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong collaborating skills and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Comfortable in a fastpaced environment with frequent deadlines; high energy selfmotivated and proactive.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and be flexible with regard to workload and assignments.
  • Ability to exercise judgment.

NOTE: At the discretion of the Personnel Officer and COO additional related experience and/or education may be substituted in lieu of the requirements specified above under Education and Experience.
