Description

The Controller position at Academic Urology and Urogynecology of Arizona is critical in managing tax finance and accounting operations. This role involves producing financial reports maintaining comprehensive accounting records and designing controls and budgets to mitigate risk increase accuracy drive revenue by maximizing underutilized resources and ensure compliance with accounting regulations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Accounting Operations Oversee daytoday accounting activities while ensuring robust redundancy and backup processes for all critical financial operations in a clinical setting.

    Policy Maintenance Uphold existing accounting policies tailored to the specific needs of a medical practice ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Closeout Management Manage and execute detailed monthend quarterend and yearend accounting closeout schedules ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Technology Integration Monitor and assess emerging financial technologies to enhance reporting efficiency enabling the leadership team to make datadriven decisions and prevent leakage.
  • Forecasting and Reporting Collaborate in calculating financial forecasts and variances executing overhead and revenue analyses from budgets and promptly reporting significant issues to the executive team.
  • Expense Management Establish and manage weekly/monthly expense forecasting processes to maintain financial health and operational efficiency.
  • Accounts Management Oversee accounts receivable and accounts payable processes ensuring timely billing and payment cycles essential for practice cash flow.
  • Banking Relationships Manage banking relationships ensuring effective cash management and accounting for clinical expenses. Initiate loan/LOC requests and convey information to shareholders.
  • Metrics and Analysis Develop and maintain financial performance metrics to support clinical estimators in budgeting and forecasting initiatives.
  • General Ledger Analysis Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts investigate discrepancies and provide corrective actions when necessary.
  • Insurance Facilitation Oversee business insurance needs including General Liability Workers Compensation and Auto policies as well as managing certificates of insurance (COIs).
  • Compliance Management Ensure compliance with necessary tax regulations permits and licensing requirements specific to healthcare operations.
  • Application and Waiver Management Handle all required payment applications and waiver documentation maintaining compliance in financial transactions.
  • Budget Analysis Summarize budget trends identify deficiencies and report variances to the leadership team fostering a proactive approach to financial management.
  • Collaboration with Internal/External Teams Work closely with external accounting firms on tax preparation and strategies to minimize tax liabilities while coordinating with the practice owner. Work with Operations Billing and Supply & Logistics Departments to ensure minimize overspending and maximize revenue.
  • Payroll Management Manage the payroll process overseeing compensation and benefits.
  • Process Improvement Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and implement more effective financial processes and controls tailored for a healthcare environment.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    Perform any other duties as assigned by Shareholders or the Director of Operations

Requirements

Skills/Qualifications:
10 years of progressively responsible accounting experience preferably in a healthcare setting.
Masters or Bachelors Degree in Accounting Business Administration or a related field is required.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) is preferred.
Familiarity in healthcare
Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
Proficient in QuickBooks
