Community Patrol Officer (CPO) performs general security services to all locations in the Ocean Reef Community including vehicle foot patrol traffic control crime control investigations Emergency Medical Services backup and public assistance.
SPECIFIC DUTIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO)
- Ensures compliance with Ocean Reef Community Association (ORCA) policies and procedures standard operating procedure and direction of public safety management.
- Patrols to deter crime maintain the peace and enforce community ordinances.
- Enforces traffic laws and regulations including speed monitoring parking regulations safety compliance and golf cart use.
- Assists with disabled and lost vehicles.
- Responds to emergency calls and renders aid.
- Makes preliminary investigations of criminal and noncriminal offenses.
- Submits accurate and complete reports as required by standard operation procedures and department directives.
- Provides security escorts as required.
- Maintains logs and records of all events on assigned shift.
- Promotes positive interactions within the community in order to enhance relations with the public and improve safety.
- May be assigned additional duties as deemed necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong organizational and communication skills (written and oral).
- Ability to react quickly and courteously with the public.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
- Skill in use of assigned equipment.
- Requires frequent use of radios sirens emergency lights and patrol cars.
- Requires the use of various reports field contact cards tickets directories maps and lists of residents and members.
- Ability to use and wear protective equipment.
- Required to stand talk or listen.
- Required to walk run use hands and fingers handle or feel objects ID cards reports tickets and reach with hands and arms.
- Specific vision abilities are required by this job including close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
- Required to recognize specific colors designs and logos.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move over 100 pounds.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is required. An associate or bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Prior experience as a Class D Security Officer Certified Law Enforcement or Military experience is preferred.
Licenses Certificates or Other:
- Valid Florida drivers license
- Florida Class D Security License or be able to obtain License within three 3 months of hire
