Job Description

High Point University Health LLC and affiliated Oral Health Network is a nonforprofit oral health system that is part of the Workman School of Dental Medicine (WSDM) with a mission of putting those who need our care at the center of everything we do.

The Attending Dentist Faculty Clinician is a fulltime clinical position with a primary location in one of the OHN sites (HUB primary oral health) all within one hour from High Point NC. The HUB locations will provide multispecialty and advanced complex care the primary oral health sites will provide general dental services and affiliate hospitals will provide care to medically complex patients all ensuring that the most complex of our patients needs can be addressed within the OHN.

This position will provide the Attending Dentist Faculty Clinician with the ability to grow provide teambased patient care and education in an authentic healthcare setting. The attending clinician will be able to connect to peers across the network and external healthcare partners via electronic health records (EPIC) and quality improvement using artificial intelligence (AI) under the guidance of the OHN Clinician Council and the office of the Chief Clinical Officer/Assistant Dean of WSDM.

Attending clinicians are appointed as nontenure cliniciantrack faculty (Assistant/Associate/Professor) with duties in the High Point University Oral Health Network (OHN) and Workman School of Dental (WSDM) which includes the predoctoral Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and postdoctoral programs. Professional rank will be commensurate with the candidates level of experience and qualifications at time of hire.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education

  • DDS or DMD degree (or foreign equivalent) active dental licensure in the state of North Carolina

Experience and Training

  • 5 years of experience in clinical practice of dentistry is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in private practice is preferred but not required.
  • Experience in dental education is preferred but not required.

Knowledge Skills Ability:

  • Poised and professional in representation of HPU WSDM
  • Receptive to feedback performance improvement and continuous coaching Knowledge of HPU WSDMs core values and mission

  • Clinical documentation diagnosis and treatment planning using electronic health records (EHR) such as EPIC systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Patient care

  • Provides comprehensive and emergency dental care to patients seen in the HPU Oral Health Network (OHN)
  • Demonstrates the highest level of professionalism ethics and empathy toward patients
  • Documents patient history examination findings diagnosis treatment planning utilizing electronic health record (EPIC)
  • Comfort with utilizing or adapting to digital technologies such as intraoral scanning photography 3d printing CADCAM and imaging.
  • Covers for other OHN providers as needed.

Education

  • Involved in the Clinician Council for quality improvement bestpractices and material equipment and supplies.
  • Serves as an attending clinical faculty for DMD and/or AEGD residents.
  • Involved in preclinical and clinical curriculum design
  • Provides continuing education courses in HPU WSDM as a content matter expert.
  • Serves as a clinician role model for learners and be able to thrive in a startup education model.
  • Bridges connections with community initiatives that align with the values of High Point University.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Report to Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) Dean
  • Evaluation: Ongoing performance reviews are conducted along with an annual assessment by the CCO. These reviews include input from the faculty and students.
