Job Description: SOUTHERN ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY seeks a fulltime faculty member with experience in frontend development web development and software engineering for the School of Computing. Teaching responsibilities include developing and delivering webcentric and general Computer Science courses in facetoface and/or hybrid formats. Additional course responsibilities are possible depending on the qualifications and interests of the successful candidate and the departments needs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and teach graduate/undergraduate courses in computer science in collaboration with fellow faculty members.
Provide effective academic advising for computing majors
Assist with extracurricular departmental activities and student recruiting
Mentor graduate and undergraduate computing students
Work collegially with fellow faculty members and students to promote a nurturing learning environment.
Serve on departmental and university committees
Qualifications: A masters degree in Computer Science or a closely related area is required with a strong background in web development frontend development and a commitment to teaching from a biblical foundation. The ideal candidate will have an earned doctorate in Computer Science.
Special Requirements:An expressed commitment to Jesus Christ and the teachings and mission of the Seventhday Adventist Church; be an SDA church member in good and regular standing.
Typical Physical Demands:Requires sitting standing bending and reaching. May require lifting up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate standard office machines such as computers calculators telephone and other office equipment.
Working Conditions:Essential tasks are performed under normal office/school conditions with little or no noticeable discomfort. Work area is well lighted and ventilated.
