NYC Ferry operated by Hornblower is seeking a Marine Diesel Technician for our operation in Brooklyn NY.
About You:
This person will be adaptable dynamic and embody Hornblowers RESPECT Service System.
About the Opportunity:
This position is designed as a Tier 3 position for work on marine diesel engines. Basic concepts systems and maintenance will be learned through onthejob training with other experienced technicians. The Diesel Technician is responsible for the preventative and corrective maintenance of the diesel main engines and generators onboard fleet vessels.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Accept tasks from the Port Engineer and shift supervisors.
- Successfully and safely perform basic maintenance on all systems onboard the vessels.
- Ensure all aspects of safety during task .
- Ensure all shift paperwork is correctly completed and submitted.
- Important vessel information is communicated to other supervisors and the chain of command.
- Use of approved Hazmat required for Paints Solvents & Cleaning Agents.
- Perform cleaning and custodial tasks of the vessels and property.
- Assist technicians with basic maintenance tasks on the vessels.
- Seek the highest levels of quality and professionalism.
- Work to achieve the highest levels of performance and productivity.
- Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring compliance with all applicable local state and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Assist the Port Engineer in ensuring vessel is always in an inspectionready condition.
- Assist with filling water bunkering fuel connecting and disconnecting shore power as directed.
- Additional job duties as assigned.
Requirements & Qualifications:
- HS Diploma
- Valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC Card) and/or ability to obtain and maintain.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certification and/or ability to obtain and maintain.
- Valid Drivers License.
- Copy of DD214 if Veteran status.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with the passengers guests and fellow employees.
- Ability to work in fastpaced quickly changing environment.
- Marine mechanical and electrical experience are highly desired.
- Proven track record running a maintenance shift is highly desired.
- Proven track record of working successfully in a team environment.
- Submit to and pass alcohol and drug tests as mandated by the USCG including but not limited to preemployment random reasonable suspicion and postaccident/incident testing.
