We are seeking a knowledgeable and experienced Aerial Fiber Optic Foreman to lead and manage a crew of linemen and groundmen on fiber optic installation projects. The Foreman will be responsible for overseeing daily operations ensuring safety compliance coordinating with project management and maintaining quality control of all aerial fiber optic construction work.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform Lineman responsibilities (see below)
Supervise and coordinate the activities of linemen and groundmen during aerial fiber optic installation maintenance and repairs crew of 6
Read and interpret blueprints work orders and project specifications
Ensure proper placement and tensioning of fiber optic cable on utility poles
Monitor job site safety and enforce compliance with OSHA DOT and company safety standards
Conduct daily tailgate meetings and job hazard analysis (JHA)
Track project progress and report status updates to the Project Manager
Perform quality control checks to ensure all work meets industry and customer standards
Coordinate with other contractors utilities and project stakeholders as needed
Maintain accurate records of labor materials and equipment usage
Train and mentor crew members promoting teamwork and efficiency
Lineman Responsibilities:
Understanding of grounding procedures
Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces
Ability to climb different types of structures safely (wood steel etc. and possess the necessary tools to do so
Understands how to obtain a one shot on a recloser
Capable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers
Understands how to use a load bust tool
Perform new construction maintenance or repair work of energized and deenergized overhead work.
String overhead wire set poles and anchors.
Install transformers lightning arrestors cutouts crossarms insulators switches and switchgear.
Installation and removal of PPE and cover up.
Troubleshoot trouble in primary and secondary systems.
Replace cutout fuses and clear faulted circuits and systems.
Phase out a line using phasing sticks.
Frequently work with energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of yourself and others.
Conduct a prejob or tailgate briefing and plan jobs.
Perform reconductoring jobs.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Minimum 35 years of experience in aerial telecom construction with at least 12 years in a leadership role
Strong understanding of aerial fiber optic installation techniques and safety procedures
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility prints
Proficient with use of aerial lifts bucket trucks hand tools and test equipment
Valid drivers license (CDL preferred) and clean driving record
Ability to work in outdoor environments and varying weather conditions
Excellent communication leadership and organizational skills
Preferred Qualifications:
OSHA 10 or 30 Certification
First Aid/CPR certified
Experience with GIS GPS or other digital mapping tools
Knowledge of NESC (National Electrical Safety Code) standards
