Job Description Summary:

The Basic Sciences Department at Samuel Merritt University (SMU) in Oakland California is seeking qualified candidates to teach in the human anatomy cadaver lab for multiple graduatelevel programs.

The Basic Sciences Department provides excellent instructors for the basic science courses required in our programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Parttime/ Adjuvant Anatomist Responsibilities: The applicant must be able to teach graduate/medical schoollevel anatomy courses. Here is a list of key responsibilities.

  • Assist with teaching the laboratory lower extremity cadaveric dissectionbased anatomy labs to podiatric medical students
  • Assist with teaching cadaveric prosectionbased anatomy labs to Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy students
  • Completely dissect two cadavers in preparation for the prosectionbased courses
  • Assist in curricular preparation and laboratory course administration for anatomy courses
  • Contribute to student learning growth and advancement.
  • Maintain a growth mindset toward student learning teaching practice and being flexible to teach different anatomy course content for different learner cohorts as needed.
  • Demonstrate a high degree of selfefficacy being held accountable for learner outcomes and advocate for learners to succeed and excel.
  • Invest in the learners wellbeing health and safety physically socially and emotionally.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Applicant must have a minimum of a Masters degree in either Anatomy or a closely related discipline. Individuals with experience teaching graduate and medical school level is preferred.
  • At least two years of experience teaching cadaveric anatomy

Based on teaching assignment a reasonable estimate for this position is between $600 $8000.

Samuel Merritt University currently provides base salary ranges for all positionson job advertisementsin the United States based on local requirements. Individual compensation will ultimately be determined based on a variety of relevant factors including butnot limited to qualifications geographic location and other relevant skills.
