DescriptionWe are looking for a staff engineer in our Medium Voltage cable system business primarily with respect to field commissioning tests diagnosis of MV cable systems auditing and laboratory witness testing. The engineer will prepare technical bids and manage field / lab testing projects upon booking to support the business development and growth.
This is a remote role with travel primary in New Jersey.
Responsibilities- Enhance and advance a zeroincident safety culture and behavior.
- Manage project schedules to ensure all the projects are properly processed including quotation reporting and invoicing.
- Evaluate and develop technical solutions and pricing per the customers request for proposal (RFP).
- Manage subcontractor interactions quoting materials equipment / rentals personnel etc. to meet job and project requirements.
- As required visit subcontractor labs for witness testing auditing and product inspection.
- As required perform product testing and measurements at ULs laboratories.
- As part of project perform inventories of test equipment and consumables review personnel availability etc. to meet project requirements.
- As required witness product testing and measurements at customers site.
- Perform data analysis on diagnostic testing performed by the UL field crews or obtained from the clients.
- Prepare technical reports and present their results with recommended actions on the tested electrical assets to customers.
- Perform data analysis on data obtained from product testing. Prepare technical reports and present their results to customers.
- Maintain daily work records with accuracy and integrity.
- Train and guide the other engineers to build competency (safety and technical) in the MV cable programs MV cable qualification lab and fieldtesting programs.
- Provide technical input and recommendations to management regarding MV business development opportunities program expansion and potential capital expenditures.
- Develop close working relationships with customers while increasing customer satisfaction.
- As required attend Industry conferences to represent UL and interact with Utilities Specifiers and MV Cable / Equipment suppliers to Utilities.
- Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or similar required.
- Experiences in areas such as Power Utilities asset management for MV equipment fieldtesting technologies for MV apparatus MV or highpower laboratories MV cable manufacturers installers or operators preferred.
- Able to communicate effectively with all internal and external customers and make formal presentations to people at all levels both within and outside the company.
- Knowledge of basic computer software in the MS Office suite.
- Able to handle multiple assignments concurrently without direct supervision.
- Valid drivers license and acceptable DMV record with a willingness to accept extended travel assignments.
- Willing to travel over 75 to customer facilities and job site including global travel
