Job Description
The lab assistant will carry out all tasks related to smooth running of the lab including but not limited to placing orders maintaining inventory preparation of buffers preparing reagents including purification of proteins and maintaining lab instruments. Once able the lab assistant will also help train undergraduate and graduate students in basic lab skills. This position is good for recent graduates from chemistry/biochemistry/biology or similar majors. This position is part of a bargaining unit and is represented by the union SEIU Local 200United.
Responsibilities
Lab maintenance including cleaning maintaining order on benches maintaining instruments (preventative maintenance) and ordering supplies. Preparation of reagents buffers and solutions plasmid protein preps. Training of undergraduates and graduate students on basic biochemistry techniques including plasmid and protein preparation. Inventory work including ordering consumables and making sure inventory does not run out. Other duties as assigned.
