St. John Paul II Catholic High School is seeking a Head Football Coach for theschool year. This position is ideally a full time teaching/coaching position but can be a stipend level positions depending on teaching field and interest.
Job Summary: Coach fulfills the formational mission of the school by running the football program to prepare student athlete for competition and to become the young men they are called to be. The Head Football Coach reports to the Athletic Director and is responsible for the overall management and direction of the SJPII Guardian Football Program. The head coach must provide instruction and coach students to develop skills and the ability to excel in football. The candidate must contribute to the formation program as a whole and to the growth of students involved in athletics so that they are competitive in their sport and become better formed young people. A fulltime teacher coach will also teach within the subject area of their expertise (a limited number of sections).
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Program Advancement
Create a cohesive football program to involve middle school feeder schools in the area.
Build relationships with student athletes to ensure adequate participation.
Execute player evaluations and team placement at the beginning of each season.
Facilitate offseason and summer player development and research best practices for program development.
Extensive knowledge of Hudl and/or other film or video analysis software
Ensure that all football coaches work together towards common goals within the football program and provide unity with a structured system.
Community Engagement
Routinely meet with assistant coaches studentathletes and parents to ensure a high level of program communication internally
Assist the admissions office with events that can positively impact the enrollment of the school and promotion of the football programs
Engage in community activities in the area and surrounding communities that may benefit the football program and athlete development
Be an advocate for student athletes and communicate needs concerns or requests effectively between coaches and teachers
Assist in organizing event promotions to drive student attendance and participation at football games
Faith Formation
Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school
Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese
Equip and empower assistant coaches to be spiritual guides for student athletes
Attend and participate in a team mass and community service project
Encourage student athletes to integrate their faith on the football field and in their everyday lives.
Management Skills
Provide feedback to assistant coaches throughout the season regarding their performance
Evaluate mentor and provide leadership to assistant coaches
Lead the middle school coaches to best train and coach athletes that will feed into the high school
Manage and supervise athletic activities contests and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills teamwork discipline respect and good sportsmanship
Monitor and enforce student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation
Financial
Oversee the football team budget under the direction of the Athletic Director to properly plan for program expenses both short and long term.
Scheduling
Ensure timely and accurate athletic website updates to include both practice and game schedules
Assist coaches with competition schedules and practice schedules and communicate those dates with parents athletes and opponents.
Ensure timely communication with coaches families leagues game officials trainers and opposing teams for all game schedules changes and cancellations.
Administrative and Other Responsibilities
Inspect and recommend replacement and/or additions to ensure adequate facilities and equipment are available
Assist in purchasing of new uniforms and equipment
Seek out and create opportunities for parent engagement and community building
Maintain professional development by attending training and clinics
Assist in of summer camps
Assist in of athletic department fundraisers
Perform other duties as assigned by administration
Maintain a high level knowledge of all TAPPS and NCAA/NFHS rules
Be able and willing to provide emergency care; maintain CPRFirstAidAED certifications; engage professional emergency personnel 911 if needed; know where automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are located on campus
Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to foster apply and enforce student discipline during athletic contests practice sessions and while on trips off school property in accordance with St. John Paul II Catholic High School student handbook
Oversee process of cleaning repairing and storing all campus athletic equipment including the weight room.
