About the Opportunity
Old Ways New Ways (OWNW) is a consortium delivered service funded by the Commonwealth Attorney Generals Department. Consortia members include Hope Community Services Aboriginal Legal Services WA (lead agency) Wadjak Northside Aboriginal Corporation and Stephen Michael Foundation. Old Ways News Ways is a justice reinvestment initiative designed to break the cycle of youth offending in the Perth and is funded under the National Justice Reinvestment Program until 30 June 2026.
Requirements of the Role:
The Senior Social Worker (Mental Health) provides specialist mental health services and clinical support to Aboriginal youth engaged with or at risk of entering the justice system under the OWNW Justice Reinvestment Program. The role is responsible for mental health assessments therapeutic interventions and case coordination to address the complex mental health needs of participants. The Senior Social Worker also plays a leadership role mentoring OWNWs staff and ensuring bestpractice approaches in culturally responsive mental health care.
The Senior Social Worker must hold Mental Health credentials from the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
