Job Description

Tubman is expanding the NorthStar Youth Outreach Center hours at the Maplewood Mall and is seeking a Parttime Youth and Family Worker. In this role you serve youth by providing case management youth leadership development opportunities connections to resources and serve as a mentor to help build on the individual strengths of each youth. You will also collaborate on systems initiatives with external partners to ensure culturally grounded and meaningful services are accessible for youth and families. We are thrilled about this opportunity and welcome candidates with a demonstrated openness to learning undoing oppression and commitment to work in partnership with youth to maximize their strengths in order to realize their full potential.


The NSYOC position is parttime with a maximum of 20 hours per week. The applicant must also be available to work on weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive services primarily to BIPOC youth of all genders ages 1024 and their children or families who have been impacted by violence including criminal justice system involvement.
  • Promote wellbeing of youth and families by serving clients in pursuit of their goals within a youth development framework.
  • Promote trusting relationships with clients and other providers.
  • Foster goal attainment through coordinated case management and education.
  • Provide resources to support effective service delivery.
  • Uphold professional boundaries and clientcentered approach.
  • Manage data entry and reporting to meet grant goals and deadlines.
  • Engage in marketing to ensure awareness about comprehensive agency services and additional community resources.
  • Regularly required to stoop kneel bend extensive walking standing and lift to 50 pounds.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in social work psychology sociology youth development human services or related field or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience and proficiency in the coordination of data to include client case management summary reports and other related assignments.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks independently and as a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to use basic computer programs such as Google social media and open/edit word documents.
  • Ability to implement effective program evaluation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to engage individuals and families in services to inspire and create positive changes.
  • Experience and knowledge about violence(including sexual exploitation) complex trauma cultural and gender diversity and homelessness.
  • 2 years group facilitation or case management experience with diverse youth from historically marginalized communities.
  • Openness to work with a wide range of relevant community resources.
  • Reliable transportation and a good driving record.
  • Pass DHS Fingerprint Criminal Background Study as required by program licensing.


Preferred Candidate

  • Graduate degree or equivalent years of experience in related field.
  • Experience working with social and community services in collaborative or systemchange efforts.
  • Ability to speak more than one language.


Compensation & Benefits

The salary for the position is $23.50 per hour.
