Muscatine Schools is hiring a fulltime 2nd Shift Custodian at McKinley Elementary School. The schedule for this position is 2:00pm 10:30pm. A Custodians main responsibility is to keep the schools appearance clean and maintain a safe school environment that is in good working order. This is ayearround position 12 months/year). Essential functions/duties must be performed onsite.
This position offers an excellent benefits package. The starting pay for this position is $19.62/hour.Bilingual preferred or highly desirable. The candidate chosen for hire will be required to complete a background check Work Steps jobspecific physical and training/onboarding with the HR Department and the Custodial Maintenance Department. Normal Work Day: 2:00pm 10:30pm.Subject to change based on building/department needs.
MAJOR DUTIES:
The function of the Custodians job is to keep the schools appearance clean safe and in good working order. Duties will vary by season grade level and activity usage but include and are not limited to:

SUMMER WORK:
The following duties are examples of what is required of the Custodial/Maintenance department during the summer throughout the district though these duties may or may not occur each summer at each building:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
The District requires knowledge of equipment and cleaning products used in cleaning building. The Custodian must attend orientation training and onthejob training.Bilingual preferred or highly desirable.
LOCATION: Assignment varies by position but a Custodian is required to assist in all District buildings as needed.

The employee must be capable of carrying an 8 ft. step ladder a distance of 50 feet and go up and down the ladder to a height of 4 rungs multiple times. Must be capable of pushing 50 lbs. a distance of 25 feet. Must be capable of shoveling for minutes at a time. The employee in this position lifts/carries 55 lbs. occasionally 10 lbs. frequently and pushes with a maximum force of 50 lbs.The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision and the ability to adjust focus while working with computers written materials reports etc.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet.The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00a.m. to 4:00p.m. workday.The employee will frequently work in different areas of the building including in/at desks on or near the floor standing in movement while working indoors or outdoors. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors as duties require.
