Summary
Pay Range $97000 $132000 Annually
The Controller is responsible for ensuring all fiscal records are processed in a timely and accurate manner and assisting in compiling financial reports. This position is responsible for all government grantors and responsible for ensuring internal and subgrantee/subcontractor compliance with contract requirements and government and nonprofit regulations including GAAP FASB and CFR. The position assists with annual budgeting and performs various audit duties. The Controller works closely with the CFO to ensure proper fiscal management and direction of the organization.
Essential Functions
Responsible for monthly account reconciliations monthend closing and the preparation of monthly financial statements.
Provide support to the annual budgeting process. This includes operating and capital budgets as well as endowment(s)
.
Monitor monthly activity against the approved Budget review with department directors and managers and communicate results to the CFO.
Ensure compliance with state and federal regulatory requirements and professional standards.
Maintain contract management system and facilitate required financial and programmatic reporting
.
Oversee and serve as backup for monthly grant and contract billing.
Ensure that all restricted grants and spending are accounted for appropriately in the finance system and the financial reports consistent with GAAP and nonprofit accounting guidance.
Develop and implement subgrantee/subcontractor fiscal and programmatic monitoring and facilitate remediation of findings with training and suggestions on course corrections to prevent future findings.
Assist the Development Director with grant applications and program budgets.
Review update and enforce compliance with the organizations fiscal policies and procedures and implement best practices.
Assist all Directors with special projects as needed.
Additional Duties as assigned
Supervision
Managing the workflow of their employees creating team schedules and delegating tasks.
Assessing the work performance of employees and identifying areas that need improvement.
Ensuring that business goals deadlines and performance standards are met.
Maintains staff by training and onboarding new hires to make sure they understand their roles.
Setting goals for workers and making sure they comply with the companys plans and vision and developing personal growth opportunities.
Reporting performance records and evaluations to HR and senior management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in accounting; MBA or CPA preferred.
Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in accounting.
Two or more years experience in a Supervisory or Management role.
Nonprofit and federal contract accounting experience.
Mastery of Net Suite or other accounting software.
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel as well as all other Microsoft Office software.
Demonstrated knowledge of and delivery of financial reporting and audit support.
Superior attention to detail with excellent analytical skills and time management skills to meet all deadlines
Must be able to communicate financial information to people of all levels of the organization for their understanding.
Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and timely manner with vendors grantors staff partner organizations clients and anyone associated with the organization.
Experience in employee relations and the ability to communicate with individuals from all socioeconomic backgrounds.
Required Functional Abilities

Superior written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive material maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and displaying sound judgment.
Work Environment
Mobility sufficient to conduct regular duties within a normal office environment.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds in order to safely manage office supplies and equipment
Hybrid option based on business need.
Compensation range: $97000 to $132000 annually.
