POSITION: Field Experience or Student Teacher Placement
GRADE LEVEL: Possible placements in all subjects grade 612
LOCATION: DSST Campus TBD
SALARY: This is an unpaid temporary placement
STATUS: Fixedterm temporary placement (dependent on program requirements) not benefits eligible
START: First day of placement will be agreed upon with your campus(es) school director(s) and/or mentor teacher in collaboration with your program requirements.

What subject area(s) (i.e. math social work science) are you most interested in teaching
What grade levels are you most interested in
How many hours of field experience student teaching or internship time are you looking to complete in total
How many hours/days per week of experience do you need
Does your program have any mentor teacher requirements (ex: the mentor teacher must have at least 3 years of teaching experience.
What is your ideal start date for your field experience/student teaching/internship

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Complete coursework and observations as required by your college or university
Observe various DSST Teachers practice teaching real classes and get direct feedback from an assigned Mentor Teacher
Build meaningful relationships with and make a tangible impact on the minds and lives of students
Yearlong student teachers may also take on additional duties as assigned. See many of our possible duties here
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
InProgress Bachelors or Graduate Degree in Education
Enrollment in a teacher preparation program
An unwavering belief that all students can succeed in school reach their most ambitious postsecondary goals and lead exemplary lives
Desire to personally professionally grow in their practice of becoming an antiracist educator
Selfawareness a regular practice of reflection and a desire to continuously improve
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS
Proven commitment to and experience with serving students of color students with disabilities and/or multilingual students

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is active and may require standing walking bending kneeling stooping and crouching throughout the day. The employee must lift and/or move items up to 30 pounds. The employee must have sufficient hand arm and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
