Summer program interns will be hired to help plan implement and supervise participants of the One Course Summer Institute (OCSI).
Interns serve as a critical link between the students involved in the summer program the Director of Summer Programs and the Residence Life Office. The position requires living on campus as a Resident Assistant from June 15 July 02 2025 being a representative of the College and a representative of student issues in the hall and across campus.
OCSI Institute participants include May 2025 high school graduates and rising high school juniors and seniors.

Dates of Internship
- June 13 2025 Training Period: Full Day beginning after Noon (exact times TBA)
- June 14 2025: Training Period: Full Day beginning after 10am (exact times TBA)
- June 15 July 02 2025: Fulltime including residing on campus and serving in the role of Resident Assistant (RA). Weekend dates are included in this position
Required Qualifications (All Interns)
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Exceptional communication organizational and mentoring skills
- Ability to enthusiastically and effectively interact with OCSI students and promote Cornell College
- Valid Drivers License
Duties
- Learn and uphold pertinent Cornell College policies and implement emergency procedures (e.g. residence hall evacuation)
- Assist with participant checkin movein and checkout procedures
- Chaperone students in the residence halls and during oncampus activities
- Chaperone on and offcampus social outings and courserelated field trips
- Transport OCSI students as needed using vehicles provided by Cornell College (must pass a safe driving exam prior to transporting students).
- Create maintain and adhere to detailed schedules
- Maintain positive professional relationships with staff faculty students and their families
- Engage with participants and promptly report problems and concerns to the Summer Programs Director Frannie Malone
Develops community
- Creates an environment where the needs and concerns of diverse populations of students are appreciated
- Coordinate and lead Get to Know You events and activities
- Promotes an environment that is conducive to academic and social development
- Promotes and supports Summer Program events and activities
- Eat with summer program participants to help build relationships and be accessible for their questions and concerns
Provides initial support to residents
- Assists students with academic support personal and social concerns making timely referrals as necessary
- Mediates roommate conflicts
- Responds to crisis situations
Compensation
- $9.50/hour starting wage
- Single room in oncampus residence hall from June 13 July 2 2025.
- Meals provided June 13 (dinner) and June 14 (lunch & dinner) during staff training.
- Meals provided June 15 (lunch & dinner) prior to checkin and Welcome Dinner with students.
- Full Bon Apptit board plan* from June 16 July 02 2025
